Pharmacist interpretation of night of the scorpion
Introduction
Night of the Scorpion depicts the believes in Karma of villagers and suffering and sacrifice of a mother for her child and also rational thinking of poet's father.
Story
In this poem, poet's mother was bitten by Scorpion. Hearing this news the villagers visited poet's house like swarm of bees murmuring prayers for his mother's wellness. The villagers also murmered that sins if his mother's previous birth be balanced by suffering of her current birth and thus giving her pleasures and success in her next birth. Poet's mother suffered with pain all the night. After sometime his father who was rationalist by thinking, light some paraffin over his mother's wound. Thus in this way poet's father saved poet's mother's life.
Lesson for pharmacist
This is the thinking that a pharmacist should carry. Inspite of believing in old thinking and ideas, one should think rationally so as to come out of a calamity. Rather wasting time in sorrow and murmuring Pharmacist should come out with the solution/treatment of illness or disease. If poet's father had not thought about the treatment then his mother would have died. Similarly patients (whether bitten by snake or scorpion) should be dealt with utmost care and medical treatment. Every moment is important for patient's breath when patient is poisoned. The first aid should be given to patient as soon as possible.
The drug information pharmacist first analyses the disease, then enlists the medicament used by patient. Then after enlisting the medicaments, the drug information pharmacist gives suitable advice which is appropriate for the patient's drug information question.
