Hibiscus plant: a wonderful gift from nature to humans

Hibiscus plant: a wonderful gift from nature to humans

Introduction

Hibiscus plants are the lovely flowers. They are helpful in making a lovely tea and also aid in adding a complementary flavor to several recipes. Hibiscus holds an honored place in some Hindu rituals as it is favourite flower to Lord Ganesh, Goddess Kali and Goddess Lakshmi, while some cultures consider it a medicinal plant. Hibiscus signify love, passion and devotion.

Anecdote on Hibiscus

One day Shyam went to park in morning. Shyam was disturbed on separation from his dear girlfriend Tanuja. His marriage was confirmed with Madhvi. While walking, Shyam noticed that there are couple of flowers on Hibiscus plant. He plucked one flower to offer the flower to goddess Kali. The next day when he observed that the flower on the hibiscus plant withered, he related to his story of being disturbed after separation from Tanuja and sympathesized with the flower. After that day, he observed that the same flower which withered previously bloomed when it was accompanied by two other flowers. He related that event to arrival of Madhavi and her niece Akangsha in his life. That hibiscus plant gave a ray of hope to Shyam and made him optimistic.

What hibiscus plant taught Shyam about life?

Every problem has a solution just like every lock has its key.

Never lose hope. Something good will happen.

Through breakup we are directed to find something better. So, make room for what is coming.

“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” — Socrates.

Breakup is a chance to find someone whom you deserve, breakup also directs towards true love.

“Pain makes you stronger, fear makes you braver, heartbreak makes you wiser.” —Drake.

“Change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end.” – Robin Sharma

“If you’re brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello.” —Paulo Coelho

No matter how bad things ended up last time know that it is not the end. We will fall in love again and this time bigger and better. Bigger and better because we have healed, we rise when we fell and now we know ourself better. We have with us the lessons the previous relationship gave and now we are more mature.

We introspected and now are a better version of ourself, we can see this the way people react to us. Just don’t go looking for love, let it find us until then be there improving ourself, following our passion. Don’t shut ourself to love, when the time comes it will hit us again.

We feel too weak to step outside and face the world, but my friend, not leaving the house for days and locking ourself alone will do no good to us. it’s time to discover ourself all over again. It’s time to discover what makes us happy, it’s to find out what we want, it’s time to do what we always wanted to do. Instead of losing ourself to loneliness, lose ourself in introspection. Be the way we want people to see us. Separation can be a great motivation to better we. Step out and go find that smile of ours.

Inspiration of platonic love from Hibiscus plant

When we are swept up in a romance, it can be tough to remember that relationships come in all shapes and sizes – they don’t always have to include makeouts and hand holding. Forge a new kind of relationship with a plant, a book, a pet – anything that lights up our heart in a real way. That’s what Shyam did with hibiscus plant.

Hibiscus plant also taught Shyam that separation break us but do remember when we fall it is not the end, we fell so that we could look at what just happened and learn from it. We may think this is the end and the love is gone, the hope is gone and there’s no more meaning to life and god forbid what not!

We’re better than this, we’re better than giving up, belief in ourself. Life is a journey through the mountains, we meet snow, desert, forest, rocks, valleys, that is how life goes on, we meet people, we feel in love, things don’t work out we break up, we struggle and we heal and again we meet someone, this goes on and on. The love it lives inside us, it doesn’t leave with our partner. In this process we learn a lot about ourself and people, we learn important life lessons. Just let the post-breakup blues give us pain but don’t ever give up.

Uses of hibiscus plant

Hibiscus, which is commonly called Roselle, is included in the family Malvaceae. Hibiscus includes over 300 species of flowering plants, one of them is Hibiscus sabdariffa Linne. It is acknowledged to be a multipurpose plant that may possess various health benefits. Hibiscus is a perennial flowering plant which is cultivated throughout the seasons.

The benefits of hibiscus plant are:

1.      1. Uses in cancer: It may display an antiproliferative (reducing cancer cell spread) effect and possess antioxidants which may perform free radical scavenging activities.

2.       2.Uses in blood sugar: The efficacy of hibiscus in managing insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus type 2 was measured in an animal model (Peng CH. et al. 2011). The results displayed a significant reduction in blood sugar levels.

3.       3.Uses of Hibiscus plant in weight management: Hibiscus may possess potential uses in weight management. In animal studies which were conducted by Hansawasdi et al. 2003, hibiscus tea displayed the blocking of absorption of sugars and starch, which might benefit weight loss.

4.       4.Hibiscus tea may possess benefits which deals with high blood pressure.

5.       5.Hibiscus may possess beneficial properties in management of colds, toothaches, and urinary tract infections.

What we can learn from platonic relationship between Mohini and Sudama?

What we can learn from platonic relationship between Mohini and Sudama?

Introduction

We have heard that a woman and a man cannot be friends. But this notion is wrong. Women and men can be best friends and be in platonic relationship. They can be each others well wishers too. They can work for each others well being and bring out each others best version. Mohini and Sudama are the best example of friendship between a man and a woman. They proved that they wish for each others good life.

How friendship between Sudama and Mohini started?

One day Sudama was browsing Jeevansathi.com to find a suitable match for himself. Then he found that Mohini had sent interest to him. She appealed to Sudama and then conversation started between two of them. Mohini said to Sudama that she owns the hotel in Bangkok. Sudama informed her that he is working as a dispensing pharmacist in SDMC. Mohini first started conversation by sending a quote to Sudama which is life changing.

That life changing quote is that if you are determined for the success you will achieve it one day. Sudama, while conversating with Mohini, said that he deals with drug information and digital marketing. Sudama knows the tactics of digital marketing and drug information. He sent the reel on drug information to Mohini that was based on finding medicinal plants with the help of smart phone while walking in park. Mohini at this advised Sudama that one can learn from his/her previous mistakes. Then Sudama shared her a video which states that how one can be happy. Sudama was having a bad time in establishing himself as a digital marketer as he was earning minimum amount of money from his blog.

He was also unhappy with his job and wanted to quit his job as his salary is not meeting his dreams. Sudama was having dog days. He was also struggling to discover the passive income source other than his own blog so that he will be able to earn a lot of money to be able to quit his job. He will be able to live life on his own terms and set up drug information centre as well as digital marketing agency.

How Mohini helped Sudama overcome his fear of struggles and made him survive his bad days?

While Sudama was conversating with Mohini, Mohini messaged him quotes that made Sudama a very hardworking and fearless man. Mohini transformed Sudama into a wise man. She said to Sudama that courage is needed to write history, not a pen. She also quoted to Sudama that those do something instead of avoiding something move forward in the world. She advised Sudama to walk with the times, otherwise he will be left behind. She build confidence in Sudama by advising him to have faith in himself, then even fear gets scared of him. With the help of her advise, Sudama faced his daily life challenges in an easy way. Thus Mohini helped Sudama in gaining a positive mindset for himself and have a new outlook towards life. Sudama then advised her by sharing an Instagram reel on how to love herself. He also advised her that she is not alone and he will help her. Actually she believed in him when no one else believed in him. She became his source of inspiration.

What Mohini gave advise to Sudama on relationships?

Sudama asked Mohini whether she talked to her parents about him. At this Mohini said that firstly both of them would know each other better then they would think

About marriage as marriage happens only once in life. Then Sudama asked Mohini that what would she expect from her husband. Mohini answered that she is looking for her partner who is responsible, has a common topic, has the same values, and values commitment. Mohini asked Sudama how he will define a successful relationship. She also asked Sudama about his opinion on good relationship.

Sudama said that in a successful relationship both husband and wife grows and develops and get successful together. At this Mohini said that a good relationship is when someone accepts your past, be supportive of your present and be supportful for your future. There should be trust and respect for each others feelings and passions. They should help each other grow and support in whatever way possible. They should give each other space and consider each other as equals. There should be love and care for one another.

Mohini asked Sudama that how his emotional experience been and how he would see his future love path. At this Sudama said that the emotional experience was great with her and future love path will be supporting each other emotionally. At this Mohini proved Sudama right and said that Love is that thing that is felt from the heart, there is no need to express love in front of everyone, we should take care of every little happiness of our partner and we should understand before he speaks. At this Sudama said that love should be like RadhaKrishna.

Mohini asked Sudama what is his opinion on marriage. At this Sudama said that marriage is based on love. Marriage occurs when there is a promise to keep partner’s futureself happy and satisfied. At this Mohini said that Marriage is a bond between two people that no one else understands. A partnership that gets each other through life when you need each other the most and share the most amazing experiences with. According to Mohini, marriage means choosing your team-mate, commiting to them and working together for the rest of your life. Mohini advised Sudama that if he keeps thinking good, attitude will automatically become good. She also advised to Sudama that it is not necessary that everyone should believe him, what he believes in is important. She also advised to Sudama that it does not matter what relationship but the relationship is the matter. When Sudama checked Mohini’s profile, it was written that the person should be Mohini’s best friend first and then her life partner who should be always be there in her ups and downs.

Conclusion

It was Mohini’s feelings for Sudama as a best friend first that Mohini so much helped Sudama in his bad days. Sudama made a place in  Mohini’s heart. Mohini made Sudama mature enough that Sudama is able to face difficulties of life with ease. Sudama now understood that whether he gets married to Mohini or not, he will be her best friend. The true friendship between a boy and a girl is so amazing, the boy care for her like a Father. The girl care for her like a Mother. Mohini cared for Sudama like a mother should care for her child by sending him life changing quotes. There existed platonic relationship between Mohini and Sudama.

A platonic relationship can be defined as the relationship in which two people share a close bond but do not have any sexual activity. They may even experience love for each other, referred to as platonic love. This concept originates in the ideas of the ancient philosopher Plato, who believed that platonic love could bring people closer to a divine ideal and also to god.

The platonic relationship focused on the idea that people can be close friends without sexual desire.

People who are in platonic relationship have deep a connection, but they also take into consideration each other's personal space and respect them. They don't indulge in forcing the other person to do things they don't want to do or be something that they are not.

7 vegetarian foods that help cure depression

7 vegetarian foods that help cure depression

Introduction

Depression is the cause of disability worldwide, affecting more than 300

million individuals annually.

Medical treatment as well as counselling, though can many a time help relieve symptoms, but

lifestyle remedies, like a healthful diet, can side by side improve a person’s

well-being. One of the overlooked aspects of mental health is nutrition.

Food not only plays a significant role in physical health, but also in

our mental health.

A 2017 study found that the symptoms of people with

moderate-to-severe depression improved when they received

counselling sessions based on nutrition and consumed an additional healthful diet for 12 weeks.

The enhanced diet gave emphasis on fresh and whole foods that are highly rich in

nutrients. It also narrowed processed refined foods, sweets, and fried food,

including junk food.

Depressive symptoms, which included mood and anxiety, ameliorated enough to

achieve remission criteria in more than 32% of the participants.

The researchers concluded that people could help manage or improve

their symptoms of depression by giving attention to their diet.

Also, there is enough research to suggest that focusing on certain ones

may attenuate one’s possibility of erupting depression or potentially provide help in

treating existing depression.

Here are seven vegetarian foods we eat every day to feel good. These

foods provide the nutrients our body needs to fight off inflammation in

our brains, which leads to depression.

1. Walnuts

Walnuts look like our brains and protect it the best too. Eating

walnuts for depression is a great choice. Walnuts have a higher

antioxidant activity than any other nut. The activity comes from a

combination of polyphenols, melatonin, and vitamin E. They also

have more omega-3 fatty acids in significant manner as compared to other

nuts. These omega-3 in walnuts help maintain overall brain health.

Furthermore, walnuts can help decrease inflammation, which can

help reduce stress and depression.

A study that analysed data from over 26,000 U.S. adults found that those

who regularly consumed walnuts had a reduced risk for depression in a significant way.

In fact, the study found that depression scores were 26% lower for

individuals who consumed approximately 1 ounce of walnuts each day and 8%

lower in those who ate 1 ounce of another type of nut each day, when

compared to others who didn’t regularly consume nuts

Leafy Greens

Leafy greens rank as a top food when it comes to fighting

depression. Spinach and depression though may seem like a

weird notion, but leafy greens like spinach, lettuce, swiss

chard and watercress have several benefits which support both

physical and mental health.

Leafy greens are packed with folate, which our brain cells need to

work well and which may help protect against depression. Food

manufacturers in the U.S. include this vitamin, also known as B9, to

enriched grains like pasta and rice. Leafy greens also contain

vitamin C and beta-carotene.

Many feel getting adequate folate daily is the key since a

deficiency in folate is correlated to a greater risk of depression.

Additionally, leafy greens fight against all kinds of inflammation,

and in accordance with a study which is published in March 2015 in JAMA

Psychiatry, severe depression has been related to brain

inflammation.

Furthermore, leafy greens are a significant part of the

Mediterranean diet. Research shows that people following this diet

tend to lead happier and healthier lives. They are also less likely to

feel depressed as compared to people who are not on this diet.

For optimal brain health, most recommendations propose eating a

meal of leafy greens daily (or around 5 to 7 cups per week).

Avocado

Avocados are high-energy foods as they contain healthy fat that

our brain needs in order to run smoothly. Three-fourths of the

calories of an avocado comes from fat, which is mostly monounsaturated fat, in

the form of oleic acid. This oleic acid gives us brainpower.

Avocado also contains almost 20 minerals and vitamins like

vitamins B6, C, E, and K and folate, magnesium, lutein and

potassium.

If we struggle with depression and avocados seem like an easy

choice to eat, they’re also beneficial for the heart, can help prevent

osteoporosis, and can also promote healthy vision. Avocados also

contain tryptophan, a precursor of serotonin. This can help

promote a good mood and general well-being.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes consist of lots of folic acid and alpha-lipoic acid, which

are good for fighting depression. According to research published in the

Journal of Psychiatry and Neuroscience, numerous studies reveal an elevated

incidence of folate deficiency in patients with depression. In most of the

studies, one-third of depression patients were scarce in folate.

Folic acid can prevent an excess production of homocysteine — which limits the

production of neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and

norepinephrine — from forming in the body.

Alpha-lipoic acid can be taken as a supplement, as well. It helps the

body convert glucose into energy, and therefore stabilises mood.

Beans

Beans and depression may also seem like a strange combination,

but beans, legumes and peas are all significant sources of many

nutrients including fibre, vitamins and protein. They are full of vital

nutrients like folate. They also are abundant in the antioxidant,

polyphenols.

Eating a high-fibre diet promotes a healthy digestive tract, but it

may also make us less prone to depression. Research suggests

that depression develops as a result of inflammation in the brain

that triggers altered neurotransmitters and impaired brain

functioning.

Some strains of good bacteria use soluble fibre to produce

short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) in the gut which possess an

anti-inflammatory effect.

All beans which range from black beans to chickpeas are good soluble

fibre sources.

Beans are also superb in providing help to control appetite for individuals

seeking to lose weight. That’s because they are loaded with fibre

and healthy starch- which can create fullness and stave off

cravings.

Blueberries

Blueberries contain high levels of Vitamin C and polyphenols.

These compounds act as antioxidants protecting brain cells from

damaging free radicals and which promote proper brain functioning

particularly during stressful periods. Vitamin C can be beneficial for

reducing the negative impacts of stress.

Antioxidants can also protect our cholesterol, lower blood

pressure, prevent heart disease and even improve cognitive brain

function.

Additionally, consuming blueberries for depression may also have

mood-boosting effects. Berries appear to have similar impacts as

valproic acid, which is a mood-stabilizing medication which is helpful in

regulating emotions. In fact, when we gave a drink made with wild

blueberries, both kids and adults were described to have a

significant increase in overall mood and outlook two hours later.

Blueberries contain the antioxidant flavonoid anthocyanin, which is

linked with lessen inflammation and the risk of depression.

Fermented foods

There is also a pronounced relationship between fermented food

and depression.

More and more research is connecting good gut health with satisfactory

mental health. Several studies have found that microorganisms

residing in your gut, including probiotics, can play an important role in mood

regulation by helping to reduce inflammation in our body, produce

feel-good neurotransmitters, and affect our stress response.

This might be a factor why a higher-than-average number of

people with irritable bowel syndrome also advance to depression as

well as anxiety.

Fermented foods can promote positive gut health and reduce

inflammation.

Most agree that adding food rich in good bacteria—such as

fermented foods namely kimchi, kombucha, miso, tamari, tempeh, and

sauerkraut, as well as fermented dairy products like yogurt—to our

diet is beneficial to our overall health. In fact, a meta-analysis of

almost 100 studies discovered that depression risk was diminished

significantly by regularly consuming probiotic-rich foods

Conclusion

Consuming a healthier diet full of these foods may help in improving

physical and mental function. They also lower risk of developing

depression. As we have seen above, blueberries have have

similar impacts as valproic acid, therefore why not try these foods

which are free of any side effects that we usually experience with

usage of drugs. If you perpetuate depression, or you’re

brawl with your mental health, visit your doctor to find a

treatment plan that's right for you.

Expressing our devotion towards Yamuna

                                                   Expressing our devotion towards Yamuna

Introduction

Researchers from the WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Program (JMP), in 2017 gave a report that more than half of India’s population have no access to potable, pure drinking water. India’s water situation is alarming and powers the health concerns and brings agricultural production and employment to set back, leading an increasing number of people to poverty.

India’s water crisis is a menace that millions of people are facing. As the summer is approaching, accompanied by heat waves and dry spells, the need for clean and accessible water becomes extremely necessary.

The Yamuna is not just a river for Delhi, she is also our mother as she sustains a vast ecosystem that is functional within the city. As a result of this, the ‘I Love Yamuna Campaign’ is launched, with the environment and forest department jointly doing initiation of this noble effort. The government has an intention to encourage Delhiites to participate actively in tree plantation drives and river cleaning activities through this initiative.”

This can be achieved by doing sewage treatment with the help of microbes.

The Ministry of Environment and Forests has also started

Yamuna Action Plan to save this river of our India

from pollution. In these plans, it is suggested to build a large number

of sewage treatment plants in order that only the treated sewage may be discharged

into the rivers.

You will be benefitted by reading this blogpost as you will come to know the importance of cleaning Yamuna river as well as the method of sewage treatment which will help in cleaning Yamuna River.

What is sewage treatment by Microbes?

The large quantities of waste water are generated everyday in

cities and towns. Human excreta forms a major component of this waste water.

This municipal waste-water is also termed sewage. It consists of large

amounts of organic matter and microbes. Many of which are pathogenic.

This untreated sewage cannot be discharged directly into natural

water bodies like rivers and streams.

Hence, before disposal, treatment of sewage is being done in sewage treatment plants (STPs)

to make it less polluting. Treatment of waste water is done with the help of

heterotrophic microbes which are naturally present in

the sewage. This sewage treatment includes combined actions of:

1.      Aerobic microbes which firstly reduce the

BOD (biochemical oxygen demand) of the effluent, BOD refers to

the amount of the oxygen that will be consumed if all the organic

matter in one liter of water are oxidised by bacteria. Till the BOD is reduced the sewage water is being treated. The BOD test is measurement of the

rate of uptake of oxygen by micro-organisms in a sample of water

and indirectly, BOD is the measure of the organic matter present

in the water. The greater the BOD of the waste water, more the waste water has polluting

potential.

2.      And other different kind

of bacteria, which grow anaerobically, which do the digestion of the bacteria and the fungi

in the sludge. During this digestion, bacteria does production of mixture of gases

such as methane, hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide.
